Tile’s DTC global expansion efforts in the UK and EMEA markets surpassed efforts from fellow nominees Marquee Brands, American Eagle Outfitters and JAXXON to win the award. In addition to its in-house team, Tile used Scalefast as its international expansion eCommerce partner to achieve their global expansion and cross-border launch goals.
“It is a really great honor to have the team recognized,” said Kathy Ando, Vice President of DTC and Marketing at Tile. “The team worked really hard to [complete the] launch before the holidays.”
After an extensive RFP process, Tile engaged Scalefast and launched eCommerce sites in 16 countries and 23 languages in only three months, meeting its goal to establish its international DTC presence by the 2020 holiday shopping season.
“We needed a partner with proven agility and flexibility that could deliver against a tight timeline,” Ando said. “And we liked the people [at Scalefast]. The relationship was a partnership, not just a vendor relationship.”
In addition to providing sophisticated eCommerce platforms in each country, Scalefast served as Tile’s Merchant and Seller of Record. Scalefast took on the legal and financial responsibilities inherent in international expansion. With existing business entities and banking relationships local to Tile’s new markets, Scalefast eliminated the time-consuming and complex process Tile would have had to undertake itself to establish abroad.
Instead of contracting with multiple vendors to meet compliance and logistics needs, Tile leaned on Scalefast to shoulder tax, fraud and compliance responsibilities in each country, enabling Tile to launch and start selling in just weeks.
Tile was among dozens of top-tier corporations nominated for forward-thinking initiatives in retail and eCommerce at the conference held September 28 and 29 in New York City. The CommerceNextys recognize companies and individuals that deliver breakthrough results in customer acquisition and results.
This year, the panel of judges narrowed the list of more than 75 nominees in eight categories down to 31 finalists. Winners were determined by peer-reviewed popular vote. The 2021 winners in other categories included retail and eCommerce giants like Foot Locker, The Yes, M&Ms, E.L.F and more.
